Rail replacement road transport will operate late evening between Dundee and Edinburgh.

You can use your CrossCountry ticket on alternative train / replacement bus services at no extra cost.
Saturday 10 to Friday 16 October:
Trains will be diverted to run via Dunfermline City, and will not call at stations between Inverkeithing and Leuchars via Kirkcaldy.
Replacement buses will run between Inverkeithing and Kirkcaldy.
Saturday 17 to Friday 23 October:

Saturday 10 to Monday 19 October:
No trains will operate between Inverkeithing and Markinch via Kirkcaldy.
An amended train service will divert via Dunfermline City.
Trains between Edinburgh and Dundee / Aberdeen will divert via Dunfermline City, not calling at stations between Rosyth and Glenrothes with Thornton.
Trains between Edinburgh and Perth will divert via Dunfermline City, calling at stations between Rosyth and Glenrothes with Thornton.
Trains between Edinburgh and Leven, an hourly train will operate via Dunfermline City, stopping at intermediate stations. Passengers via Kirkcaldy for Leven can connect replacement buses with trains at Glenrothes with Thornton.
A replacement bus service will operate between Inverkeithing and Markinch, calling at Dalgety Bay, Aberdour, Burntisland, Kinghorn, Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes with Thornton.

Tuesday 20 to Friday 23 October:
No trains will operate between Markinch and Perth / Dundee.
Trains between Edinburgh and Dundee / Aberdeen will divert via Stirling / Perth (where possible), not calling at stations in the Fife Circle.
Trains between Edinburgh and Perth will run between Edinburgh and Kirkcaldy.
Trains between Edinburgh and Leven will operate as usual.
Rail replacement buses will operate between Kirkcaldy and Perth / Dundee.
Background information:
Network Rail will be carrying out a major programme of engineering to help prepare the railway for electrification. The work is part of the Scottish Government's £311.5m investment to electrify 118km of the Fife Circle route and introduce new battery-electric trains.
Engineers will carry out bridge replacements, track and signalling upgrades, and other improvements in the area. The bridges at Bennochy Road in Kirkcaldy, Muriespot bridge near Coaltown of Balgonie, and Main Street in Thornton will be demolished and rebuilt. Teams will also upgrade the bridge on Cardenden Road in Cardenden, make track changes, install foundations and structures for electrification equipment, and carry out extensive signalling upgrades.
